R.E.A.C.H.

We all have the incredible opportunity to take the Life that we have, the healing, joy, love, destiny, future, hope, freedom and so on to those around us. We often have the desire to share what we’ve experienced and invite others to come along with us in the journey, but many times we do not. I believe it’s because we do not know how to share. We don’t know how to communicate what God has done in our lives. I’ve put together an acronym, R.E.A.C.H. to guide you in reaching somebody. Here it is!

R - Relationship

Before you do anything you need to establish a relationship with the person you desire to reach. Hang out with them, text them, spend time with them. Know their birthday, likes and dislikes, favorite dog breed, etc… Build some relationship with this person.

E - Earn

In order to lead someone on a journey they have to trust that you are not going to lead them off a cliff. For this to happen, you need to earn their trust. When someone trusts you they will try new things and go on new adventures. Be a trustworthy friend. Don’t share their secrets, listen, spend time with and be trusting. When you say you will do something do it! This will earn you the right to bring Life to them.

A - Act

How many times has someone told us they were having a bad day or going through a difficult time and we pat them on the back and wish them well? We missed an opportunity to reveal the goodness of God. We’ve got to act on these opportunities by praying for them, right there, in the lunchroom. *GASP* Yes, ask them can I pray for you? Act on the open doors. When there is a message series they will like, invite them. “I know how much you like kitty cats, well my church is doing a message on 10 reasons to love a cat and I thought you would enjoy it. You want to come?” Look for the open doors and act by stepping through them.

C - Call

After the realationship is built, trust is earned and you’ve acted, there comes a moment were you just know they are ready and you’ve got to put out the call. Invite them to church or better yet invite them to Christ. I put out the call to someone recently after I had done the previous three things and all I said was this. “We’ve been talking about God for a long time now and I think you know you need him. It’s time for you to make a decision to follow Christ because there is no reason for you not to.” I left it at that and a week later I led him to Christ. Put out the call, they will answer it!

H - However

After all of these you’ve got to do and teach them however. However you have to get them to church, do it! However you worship, serve, give, read, pray, love and so on, show them. It doesn’t end with salvation, that is the why, it only begins. Then it is time to show them how to follow Christ. Show your friend however you do it and you will have great success in bringing them along in the journey.

Think of someone right now that you need to R.E.A.C.H. Take this information, make a plan and R.E.A.C.H. someone today!

Our Fall Retreat is focusing on the topic of Sexual integrity. We are using a curriculum from the Legacy Institute. Middle School and High School will be seperated for teaching and discussion. Here is a glance at our curriculum:

Middle School - “You Are Designed To Be Whole.” This unit introduces the concept of Sexual Integrity for the first time in the curriculum using the five aspects of each person as the centerpiece. The unit begins with framing the issue of male and female uniqueness, and then highlights how both live with integrity physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually. Students begin to understand their choices leave a ripple or a legacy, even at this early age. Many students are already making decisions about the opposite sex, and this unit helps them manage that process with integrity, while also reminding them of the key role of their parents.

High School -

You Are Designed For A Great Story!

All high school students begin with this foundation series.  This comprehensive and integrated unit frames the issue of relationships and sexuality from a biblical perspective then incorporates scientific data to strengthen the foundation.  The 10-session DVD driven series is practical and incredibly positive. Students feel a sense of encouragement and empowerment as they begin to understand who they are as a young man or young woman, not just what they should and should not “do”. The relationship model for Sexual Integrity is taught and applied to student’s lives, and the results are life-changing!  Students receive a personal workbook for notes and small group discussions. Other object lessons and activities are encouraged to reinforce student learning and understanding. The sessions include:

Session 1: God Designed You On Purpose, With A Divine Purpose

Session 2: Male And Female By Design

Session 3: Young Men Can Reflect God

Session 4: Young Women Can Reflect God

Choose Your One - Part 1

This previous Wednesday I hit the GRID students with a message on Acts 8:26-39 about the multitudes that are in the valley of decision. Look around you! There are people in need life change and you need to choose one. We all know ONE person who needs the life that is within us, so pick them and apply this tactic to bringing them to a place of life change.

From the story of Philip in Acts 8 we find a strategy to bring Life to people! Over the course of the next week we will break down each individually, but here is the 20,000 foot level:

  1. Prayer
  2. Position
  3. Preparation
  4. Persistence
  5. Praise

More to come! In the mean time… Pick one person, write their name down and hang them up where you can see them. Then check back for the run down on each of these.

As promised we cooked up this vid to share your pain and put a smile on your face. Hopefully you get a peek before school starts today or tomorrow. Enjoy!
